Naya's Cleveland Senior Session at the Italian & Hungarian Cultural Gardens

Some sessions never really feel like work. Naya's senior portraits were one of those afternoons — less a scheduled shoot and more a walk through the Cultural Gardens with people we have known long enough that the camera stops being the center of attention.

That ease shows up in the pictures. When nobody is bracing for the next pose, expressions land where they should: quiet, warm, unmistakably hers.

We started in the Italian Cultural Garden, where the stonework, balustrades, and fountains give portraits a built-in sense of scale. The architecture does a lot of the work — clean lines, sculpted detail, and enough shade to keep the light soft while we moved between spots.

From there we walked over to the Hungarian Cultural Garden, which trades formality for texture — flowers, layered greenery, and pathways that open up into small pockets of light. Two gardens, a short walk apart, and the gallery ends up with real variety without ever feeling stitched together.

A Portrait Session That Still Feels Like Naya

The goal with senior photos is never a set of poses. It is a set of pictures a family will recognize years from now. We kept the pacing slow, let Naya settle into each spot, and photographed through the in-between moments as much as the deliberate ones.

And then there is the cap toss — the one frame that plants the whole gallery firmly in senior year.

More Than Just Another Client

Naya's family stopped feeling like clients a while ago. They feel like friends — the kind of people you catch up with first and start photographing second. That relationship is the quiet reason this session went the way it did.

We made time for family portraits too, because a senior session is a milestone for everyone standing just outside the frame.

Looking Ahead

There is more to come with this family. We are already looking forward to photographing Naya's graduation party in the summer of 2027 — the next chapter of a story we have been lucky to document along the way.

Until then, these gardens did exactly what we hoped: gave Naya a senior gallery that looks like Cleveland, and looks like her.
