Suemaya & Assad's Sunflower-Field Love Story at Rogish Farm

    OCTOBER 1, 2026

A sunflower field is already full of movement before anyone steps into it. The stems lean at different angles, the blooms turn toward the light, and every narrow path opens onto another layer of yellow and green. For Suemaya and Assad's love-story session at Rogish Farm, we let that landscape set the pace instead of trying to hold it still.

They arrived in soft white and warm neutrals, a simple palette that stood apart from the flowers without competing with them. We began while the October sky was still even and quiet, then kept photographing as the sun dropped toward the tree line and changed the field completely.

    An Early-October Sunflower Field

Rogish Farm in Chesterland succession-plants its sunflowers through the growing season, which is how rows of blooms can still carry so much color into early October. We started with the field itself: individual flowers, long rows, and wide frames that show just how completely the plants surround the paths between them.

Those first portraits were intentionally loose. A turn of the hand, a walk through the rows, and the brief pause after a laugh gave the pictures a natural rhythm. The field looks expansive in the wider frames, but the flowers also create small private spaces where the two of them seem tucked away from everything beyond the plants.

    Letting the Session Move

The strongest couples photographs rarely come from asking two people to freeze. We had Suemaya and Assad move down the paths, reach back for one another, turn, and close the distance again. Her long skirt caught the motion, the flowers softened the edges of the frame, and the photographs began to feel less like a sequence of poses and more like one continuous walk through the field.

Movement gives the gallery energy, but the quieter frames give it meaning. We stepped closer for the moments when their hands met, when Assad pulled Suemaya into him, and when they stopped thinking about where the camera was. Those details keep a session grounded between the more cinematic photographs.

When the Last Light Reached the Field

Late light changed everything. The green rows that had read as soft and muted began to pick up amber along their edges, while the trees behind the field turned into a dark backdrop. We placed the sun just outside the couple's shoulders whenever we could, letting it flare through the leaves and wrap around them instead of lighting every detail evenly.

This was the most playful stretch of the evening. They walked away through the rows, came back laughing, and tried the lifts that became some of the session's biggest frames. The photographs work because the gesture is dramatic but the expressions are not — the two of them still look connected rather than arranged for the camera.

Quiet Portraits at the Edge of the Field

After all that movement, the bench at the edge of the flowers gave the story somewhere to settle. Sitting portraits changed their body language immediately. Suemaya leaned back into Assad, he rested beside her, and the field became a wall of color rather than a place they had to move through.

We also made space for portraits of Suemaya on her own. The white fabric and her dark hair gave those frames a simple shape against all the texture behind her. At the end, a small bouquet gathered the colors of the field into one final detail and gave the gallery a natural closing note.

    The People Behind the Photographs

Before leaving, we made one more photograph — Rada with Suemaya and Assad, standing together in the same field where the session had unfolded. It is not a polished portrait from the gallery. It is the picture that remembers the people on both sides of the camera, and the evening they made together.

A Love Story in Chesterland, Ohio

Suemaya and Assad's session is a reminder that one location can carry a full story when there is room for the light and the energy to change. We did not need to leave the field to create variety. We only needed to move from wide to close, from motion to stillness, and from the soft overcast beginning into the last warm edge of the day.

That is what we want a love-story gallery to hold: the photographs that feel expansive, the ones that feel private, and all the small transitions between them. Rogish Farm gave us the setting. Suemaya and Assad gave it a pulse.
